Rebel Wisdom
No, it's not a cheese -- it's a new book for women at midlife!
If anyone had told me in 2009 that I would make a career out of writing about cheese, I would have howled. Fifteen years later, I am writing to you from France while eating a fresh raw-milk goat cheese on a Friday evening, at a table by a canal, between cheese-related voyages. All this to say: a small decision, like starting a cheese blog under an assumed name, can be the first step in a long creative journey.
That’s why this old cheese head (Madame Fromage is in her 50s now) is looking at you with a different sort of book in her hands. Meet REBEL WISDOM: Creative Writing and Rituals for Women at Midlife, a book co-written with Aimée Knight.
Aimée and I have been teaching together for nearly two decades at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. She attended my first cheese tastings, read some of my earliest blog posts, and inspired two burrata-making missions to Puglia with blog readers long before the phrase “cheese travel” existed. In short, she’s a great friend and visionary.
When she suggested that we compile a book of writing exercises for women in midlife, I scrunched up my nose. I couldn’t imagine that there would be an audience for such a book, but then I remembered: I never imagined anyone reading a cheese blog. It takes a bold step to start down an unfamiliar path. But you have to take the step.
REBEL WISDOM is a book about finding direction. Then continuing.
Curious? We’d love for you to check it out and to share it with friends. If you’re at a crossroads, considering a new path, or feeling curious/anxious about your next chapter, join us!
Pick up the book, and join our Rebel Wisdom Substack. Each month, we’ll be sharing exercises and offering ideas.
Warmest wishes,
Tenaya / Madame F.
